High-end technology for suspension tuning
Driving dynamics test bench
We are a leading manufacturer of innovative suspension technologies for sporty road vehicles and racing cars from motorsport. Our customers benefit from our in-house driving dynamics test centre with up to seven stamps. The KW test centre enables precise tuning of all suspension components without driving a single kilometre.
All advantages at a glance
The vehicle remains intact
If the vehicle is on our driving dynamics test bench, there are no operating hours. Neither tyres, brakes, bodywork nor engine are subject to wear.
Cheaper alternative to the racetrack
Neither a driver nor a track need to be booked for tests on our driving dynamics test bench. All test drives take place at the KW development centre.
Assured objectivity and repeatability
Measurements on the KW vehicle dynamics test bench are independent, reliable and can be repeated at any time. We are independent of the weather and other external influences.
Unbeatable efficiency
A day on our driving dynamics test bench provides more data than a test day on the racetrack. On request, we can concentrate specifically on individual parameters and track sections. Up to 100 measurements per day are possible.
Direct results
We analyse numerous parameters, e.g. longitudinal and lateral forces, wheel loads, spring rates, damper characteristics and many more. We optimise all parameters in real time directly on the vehicle.
Analyses in every vehicle condition
Vehicles that come to our vehicle dynamics test bench do not have to be ready to drive. We can carry out tests on the vehicle during the construction or development phase.
Further key facts and information
Costs
We charge different daily rates depending on the test bench setup (4-post, 6-post, 7-post) and the work involved. We can say with a clear conscience that the final costs are still more favourable than a pure track rental.
Provision of data and material
In order to carry out a 7-post track replay, we need track data and aeromaps. Brackets must be provided so that we can connect the racing car to the three other actuators for the inertia and downforce.
Duration of the vote
The data can be analysed and reconciled for a 4-post sweep within one day. The more complex 6- or 7-post appointments require at least 2 working days. This does not include setting up the vehicle on the test bench.
On-site service team
Our test bench engineers support technicians and external engineers directly on site. We also provide lifting platforms if more extensive modifications to the vehicle are required.
Our driving dynamics setups
4-Post
The 4-post sweep analyses the vehicle's resonance frequencies. This ensures that the vehicle remains stable even at high speeds on demanding routes.
4-post with aero (6-post)
With the 4-post aero sweep (6-post), we take into account constant aerodynamic forces caused by airflow and air resistance - especially at higher speeds.
7-Post
In addition to the four wheel stamps, inertia and output forces are introduced into the vehicle structure by three further actuators. The actuators are controlled using a drive file. This contains real track data and an aeromap. The test results are analysed globally and sector by sector for a detailed evaluation of the vehicle dynamics.
Infrastructure and requirements
In addition to the vehicle dynamics test bench, a 2-post lift is available. Testing on damper test systems is also possible. We offer test systems from: API Dyno (crank drive), Roehrig (electromagnetic linear drive), Schenk (servo-hydraulic) The test bench and workshop are located in a separate building. Loading and unloading is possible within the building (max. transporter height: 3.2 m). The building is locked by an electronic locking system with special access authorisation.
