BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo: The combination of KW dampers and ex-works air suspension
The 6-series Gran Turismo BMW (G32) comes with air suspension at the rear axle. The air spring bellows are perfectly coordinated with the BMW rear axle dampers to create a seamless unit. Until recently, KW Suspensions did not have a driving dynamics solution for this type of coilover structure. However, the 6-series BMW is now the first vehicle that can be fitted with a KW product while also having a series air suspension at the same axle. To achieve this, we adapted the BMW air suspension system to our KW V3 rear axle dampers. This offers a range of possibilities for equipping more vehicles with similar coilover structures.

To develop a solution, we removed the air spring bellows from the standard strut on the rear axle and installed in onto our KW V3 damper. The outcome was a fusion of an original BMW series component with our damper. This also results in a continuous lowering of 25 to 55 millimeters at the rear axle.
The front axle
The 6-series GT is equipped with MacPherson struts and steel suspension at the front. Our popular KW V3 coilover kit can be used seamlessly in this configuration, allowing a continuous lowering of 30 to 55 millimeters (with parts certificate). The V3 coilover kit, previously known as the Variant 3, provides individual and independent adjustments for lowspeed compression (TVC-A) and lowspeed rebound (TVR-A). With 16 available clicks, the damper setup is adjustable even after installation. The KW V3 is made of high-quality stainless steel (inox-line) to ensure maximum durability and longevity.

Not only were our in-house development engineers and test drivers thoroughly convinced by the sporty handling, but the customer himself also expressed satisfaction with his car. He reported feeling a significant increase in driving safety and noticing much more stability when steering. The 6-series Gran Turismo, also known as the BMW 640i GT, is an upscale mid-size sedan featuring a hatchback. It’s the successor of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo and was first introduced in 2017. Since then, the model has impressed with its pure elegance and a clear design language. As part of the first facelift, the 6-series GT (G32) received a BMW kidney grille that was further extended and flatter headlights. Additionally, the air intake located below the bumper has been divided into three sections, giving the car a wider appearance than it actually is. Since the facelift, all variants are now mild hybrid vehicles. Depending on the version, the new BMW 6-series produces up to 340 HP.
