The standard Smart coilover suspension provides an excellent balance between ride comfort and sportiness. However, it can lose grip when subjected to rapid load changes. Additionally, the car leans sideways when changing direction. These two factors significantly impact subjective driving safety.

Our KW V3 coilover suspension is available for both the Smart #1 and the Smart #3 (HC11). The Smart #3 is slightly larger and sportier than the more agile Smart #1 and has a slightly longer range. The KW V3 provides the Smart #3 with sporty, responsive handling and adjustable lowering, as well as high performance on country roads and motorways.

This coilover suspension offers maximum possible lowering, customized to your vehicle model. You can also change this at any time after installation.
Adjustable rebound (low speed)
You'll notice the difference with every click! Here, you can adjust the low-speed rebound with 16 clicks. This adjusts the ride characteristics, making them either harder or more comfortable.
Adjustable compression damping (low speed)
You can fine-tune the low-speed compression damping even after installation. The vehicle's handling and stability will benefit from 12 clicks.
Composite spring disc
The height-adjustable KW spring plate is made from a resistant and friction-optimised polyamide composite material with a stainless steel insert. In contrast to anodised aluminium adjustable spring plates, the polyamide composite material prevents possible oxidation.

How much can I lower the Smart #1 using KW?
The KW V3 coilover suspension offers a wide range of lowering options. For the Smart #1, there is 35 to 50 millimetres of leeway on the front axle for lowering. On the rear axle, you can lower the vehicle by between 35 and 55 millimetres. When you lower your Smart electric SUV, the vehicle's center of gravity is lowered too. As a result, the Smart #1 sits better on the road, improving its driving dynamics.
How do I set up the V3 for my Smart #1?
When you order the KW V3 coilover suspension for your Smart #1, it comes preset to the ideal damping setup for the car. The level of comfort or stiffness of the vehicle's suspension can be fine-tuned by adjusting the compression and rebound. You can use the threaded ring to adjust how low your car sits on the road for more or less lowering.

KW suspensions and Brabus have been working together for more than 20 years. Since then, they have continuously brought premium models onto the market together. One of the main focuses in the production of a Brabus model is performance enhancement. KW suspension has been the official technology partner of Brabus since 2022. Does the electric range suffer with a retrofit suspension inside?
No, retrofitting a coilover suspension and/or lowering the vehicle does not reduce the electric range. On the contrary: The KW V3 can actually increase the electric range. Thanks to the lowered ride height, you get better aerodynamics, lower rolling resistance, and greater stability. In addition, our engineers have tested the Smart # models on our in-house 7-post driving dynamics test bench to boost the efficiency of vehicles equipped with KW coilover suspensions.
