With the Mercedes-Benz V-class and KW V3 Leveling inside, long-distance road trips have never been more comfortable. The W447 series has been in production since 2014 and, thanks to a load volume of up to 5,010 liters, is regarded as a large-caliber model in terms of interior and trunk space. In March 2024, the first Mercedes-Benz V model with rear-axle drive was launched. About half a year later, the same model with all-wheel drive was presented at the Autosalon in Paris.
Both Mercedes-Benz variants are available as a compact model with a length of 4,90 meters, a long version (5,14 meters), and an extra-long version (5,37 meters). In the extra-long version, the V-class accommodates eight passengers. The Mercedes of the W447 series is available as a combustion car (diesel) or as an electric van. When deciding on the Diesel version, the V-class has a 4-cylinder in-line engine and gets to a total of 239 HP depending on the edition and length.
The car offers a broad spectrum of design packages such as the Night edition, the AMG line, an exterior sport package, and many more possibilities. With such design additions, the V-class is refined with ambient light, seats with massage function, holdable passenger seat tables, and a tailgate that opens separately. Standard equipment of the W447 series are assisting systems like a crosswind assist, an attention assist, and many more safety gadgets.
Within several vehicle- and driving tests, the Mercedes V-class showed a good performance without major defects. Nevertheless, a specific weakness comes up regularly: driving stability. With such a colossus, however, no wonder. But we wouldn’t be KW if we didn’t have a solution for this problem.
The solution is called: KW V3 Leveling. Vans often come with the challenge that they have spongy driving behavior on the rear axle. Constant bouncing in the interior causes an uncomfortable feeling on longer journeys and can result in passengers feeling nauseous more quickly. Still, a bus such as the V model is often used to transport people which is why comfort must be the first priority in this case.
The term “Leveling“ stands for the possibility to drive a car with the usual and very popular V3 performance while maintaining the serial height. Nonetheless, if desired, a decent lowering or elevation is possible. This is of particular benefit to vehicles that already drive very low or high ex-works. As a result, a car often runs the risk of quickly touching the asphalt or being too high for common parking garages.
Some of our retail partners tested the V3 Leveling. We were told that the vehicles with KW inside have more traction on the road and in curves and give a safer driving experience. In addition, the Mercedes reacts more directly in handling and secures a significant plus in ride comfort with the V3 Leveling.
Our suspension targets frequent drivers and families who do not desire maximum lowering and lay their focus on maximum driving comfort and almost original serial ground clearance. However, those that are interested in a discreet lowering or elevation, are served as well when purchasing a KW V3 Leveling.
The Mercedes-Benz V-class with all-wheel drive enables a lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters at the front and rear axles. The V-class variant with rear axle drive offers an elevation of up to 5 millimeters and a lowering of 15 millimeters maximum. At the rear axle, the luxury van offers a lowering or elevation of up to 10 millimeters.
