The factory suspension
The Mercedes A-Class (W176) comes from the factory with an uncompromisingly firm suspension setup. The front features a McPherson strut suspension, while the rear uses either a multi-link or four-link suspension, depending on the engine. Industry publications praise its agility and steering precision—but criticize the stiff damping. The downside: everyday comfort suffers noticeably on rough roads. KW suspensions resolves this very conflict—delivering maximum performance without harshness.
KW V1 Coilover Suspension
Visibly lowered ride height without any loss of comfort! The KW V1 is the entry-level option for models such as the A160 through A250 and the A45 AMG, with or without electronic damper control. The W176 can be lowered by 20 to 55 mm on the front axle, depending on the variant. On the rear axle, a lowering of 15 to 60 mm is possible. Once installed, the lowering can be readjusted at any time. Regarding the damping, there’s no additional adjustment effort required on your part. The damper setup is precisely tuned to your A-Class right from the factory.

INOX LINE: High-quality stainless steel casing
The struts of KW coilover suspensions are made of high-quality stainless steel, making them rustproof. This long-lasting corrosion resistance is known as the INOX Line.
Composite spring disc
The height-adjustable KW spring plate is made from a resistant and friction-optimised polyamide composite material with a stainless steel insert. In contrast to anodised aluminium adjustable spring plates, the polyamide composite material prevents possible oxidation.
Trapezoidal thread
Thanks to our friction-optimized trapezoidal thread, you can easily adjust the vehicle lowering to your liking. Due to the protection-resistant thread, you can still adjust the lowering with millimeter precision even years after installation.

Will my A-Class still be suitable for everyday use after I install a coilover suspension?
Yes, your car will still be usable for daily driving. The KW V1 and V3 can be adjusted continuously within their specified adjustment range, ensuring that ground clearance and suspension travel remain optimized for everyday use. Only the V3 Clubsport version for the A 45 AMG is more specifically designed for track day use and offers a correspondingly sporty ride.
Does the adjustable suspension by KW make the A 45 AMG even stiffer?
Not necessarily. On the KW V3, for example, the compression and rebound stages can be adjusted independently of one another. This gives the suspension greater precision, while the base damping remains customizable rather than uniformly stiffer. This allows us to ensure a sufficient level of ride comfort without compromising sporty performance.
Is there anything I need to keep in mind with electronic damper control?
Yes, there is something to keep in mind here. For vehicles equipped with adaptive factory dampers, the KW coilover suspension comes with a cancellation kit. This kit deactivates the factory electronics, prevents error messages from appearing in the cockpit, and can be removed at any time.
How low can I lower my W176 A-Class with a KW coilover suspension?
The adjustment range always depends on the specific Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176 model variant and the KW product.
