The factory suspension
From the very beginning, Mercedes-Benz has focused on a firm, dynamic suspension setup for the A-Class—and rightly so. The third generation (W176) and the fourth generation (W177) share driving characteristics that remain true to the brand: agile handling, direct steering response, and a noticeably sporty feel. For those seeking even more sportiness or who want to lower their W177 to a specific height and tune the damper characteristics to their own preferences, the stock suspension simply doesn’t offer enough flexibility. KW suspensions closes this gap with vehicle-specific coilover kits.
KW V1
The KW V1 is the ideal entry-level option for W177 drivers looking for the maximum technical lowering or a custom ride height without having to deal with adjustment wheels and damping adjustments. We’ve developed a sporty yet balanced damping characteristic that transforms the vehicle right away. The continuously adjustable lowering range is at least 10 mm and up to 25 mm on the front axle, and at least 5 mm and up to 65 mm on the rear axle. Includes a parts certificate, INOX-Line stainless steel technology, and composite spring seats made of polyamide composite material. Important: The KW V1 is not available for the A 35 AMG. For this model, we recommend the KW V3.

INOX LINE: High-quality stainless steel casing
The struts of KW coilover suspensions are made of high-quality stainless steel, making them rustproof. This long-lasting corrosion resistance is known as the INOX Line.
Composite spring disc
The height-adjustable KW spring plate is made from a resistant and friction-optimized polyamide composite material with a stainless steel insert. In contrast to anodized aluminum adjustable spring plates, the polyamide composite material prevents possible oxidation.
Trapezoidal thread
Thanks to our friction-optimized trapezoidal thread, you can easily adjust the vehicle lowering to your liking. Due to the protection-resistant thread, you can still adjust the lowering with millimeter precision even years after installation.

What warranty and certification does KW suspensions offer for its coilover kits?
KW suspensions manufactures all its coilover kits at its headquarters in Fichtenberg. Every shock absorber setup is 100% tested before it leaves the factory. Tuning is performed on the company’s in-house 7-post driving dynamics test bench under reproducible laboratory conditions—the same test bench that automakers and international racing teams use regularly. KW coilover kits for street use are delivered with a parts certificate that documents the vehicle compatibility, adjustment ranges, and all safety-related information.
Can I drive my W177 A-Class with the KW V3 Clubsport suspension on regular roads?
Yes, that’s the essence of the Clubsport concept: track performance with street legality. The KW V3 Clubsport comes with a parts certificate and is officially approved for use on public roads. The tuning is sportier than on the V1 or V3, but thanks to the 16-click rebound adjustment and 12-click compression adjustment, the setup can also be adapted for street use—a noticeable advantage, especially with the high-performance A-45 variants.
If I switch to a KW suspension, will I lose the electronic damper control on my W177 A-Class?
If you install a KW coilover suspension in your Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W177), the standard electronic damper control system must be deactivated (except for DDC Plug & Play systems) to prevent error messages from appearing on the onboard computer. This is very easy to do: For vehicles with adaptive damping, the appropriate deactivation kit is already included in the package. The process can also be easily reversed at any time.
Which KW suspension is compatible with the Mercedes-AMG A 35, A 45, and A 45 S?
For the A 35 AMG, A 45 AMG, and A 45 S AMG, KW also offers the KW V3, V3 Leveling, and V3 Clubsport; the KW V1 is not intended for these model variants. The V3 Leveling enables a performance upgrade while maintaining near-stock ground clearance. Both product lines are designed for 2WD and 4WD (4MATIC) vehicles, as well as for models with and without electronic damper control.

After extensive research, I decided on the KW V3. What convinced me the most was the ability to adjust both rebound and compression damping. I’m currently using a setting that’s geared more toward comfort—since I was worried it might feel too stiff after lowering the car—but that wasn’t the case at all. Compared to the stock suspension, the car sits noticeably more firmly on the road; body roll in corners has practically disappeared, and yet there’s still enough comfort for my daily commute to work. I set the lowering to about 30 mm in the front and rear—visually, it’s a huge difference; the A-Class now looks much more athletic and finally sits properly on the rims.
