High-end technology for vehicle dynamic testing
7-Post Test Rig
We are a leading manufacturer of innovative suspension technologies for sporty road vehicles and motorsport racing cars. Our customers benefit from our in-house driving dynamics test bench with up to seven stamps. The KW test center enables precise tuning of all suspension components without any driving.
All benefits at a glance
The vehicle remains intact
When the vehicle is on our driving dynamics test bench, there are no operating hours. Tires, brakes, body, and engine do not experience wear.
Less expensive alternative to the track
No driver or route needs to be booked for tests on our driving dynamics test bench. All test drives take place at the KW development center.
Assured objectivity and repeatability
Measurements on the KW vehicle dynamics test bench are independent, reliable, and can be repeated at any time. We are independent of the weather and other external influences.
Unbeatable efficiency
A day on our driving dynamics test bench provides more data than a test day on the racetrack. On request, we focus specifically on individual parameters and track sections. Up to 100 measurements per day are possible.
Direct results
We analyze numerous parameters, such as longitudinal and lateral forces, wheel loads, spring rates, damper characteristics, and more. We optimize all parameters in real time directly on the vehicle.
Analysis in every vehicle condition
Vehicles that come to our driving dynamics test bench do not have to be roadworthy. We can carry out tests on the vehicle during the construction or development phase.
Further key facts and information
Costs
We charge different daily rates depending on the test bench setup (4-post, 6-post, 7-post) and the work involved. We can say confidently that the final costs are still cheaper than a pure track rental.
Requirements for track replay
To carry out a 7-post track replay, we need route data and aeromaps. Brackets must be provided so that we can connect the racing car to the three other actuators for the inertia and downforce.
The service
We can analyze the data and coordinate a 4-post sweep within one day. The more complex 6-post or 7-post missions require at least two working days. This excludes setting up the vehicle on the test bench.
On-site service team
Our test bench engineers support technicians and external engineers directly on site. We also provide lifting platforms if more extensive modifications to the vehicle are required.
Our driving dynamics setups
4-Post
The 4-post sweep analyzes the vehicle's resonance frequencies to ensure stability at high speeds on demanding routes.
4-Post with Aero (6-Post)
With the 4-Post Aero Sweep (6-Post), we account for constant aerodynamic forces from airflow and air resistance at higher speeds.
7-Post
In addition to the four wheel stamps, inertia and output forces are introduced into the vehicle structure by three additional actuators. The actuators are controlled using a drive file containing real track data and an aeromap. Test results are analyzed globally and sector-by-sector to provide a detailed evaluation of vehicle dynamics.
Infrastructure and requirements
In addition to the vehicle dynamics test bench, a 2-post lift is available. Testing on the damper test systems is possible. We offer test systems from API Dyno (crank drive), Roehrig (electromagnetic linear drive), and Schenk (servo-hydraulic).
The test bench and workshop are in a separate building. Loading and unloading are possible inside (max transporter height: 3.2 m). The building is secured by an electronic locking system requiring special access authorization.
