Much more than a monotube damper - the KW single tube dampers
Our KW Single Tube dampers differ significantly from monotube dampers found in original equipment and spare parts markets. We mainly use them for selected KW Coilover suspensions in the Track Performance program.

With the KW Single Tube dampers, we combine the advantages of monotube and twin-tube dampers and rely on our innovative multi-valve technology. Depending on the design, the KW Single Tube dampers are adjustable in compression and rebound forces or have a fixed characteristic. They impress with a fast damping response and can be installed in any position. For MacPherson axle geometries, we manufacture KW Single Tube dampers exclusively as upside-down shock absorbers.

Even with the first KW coilover suspensions, we relied on the proven twin-tube damping principle in original equipment and have continuously refined it. Our KW twin-tube dampers form the basis of many innovative coilover suspensions, from comfort suspensions to coilovers for maximum lowering.

The tried-and-tested twin-tube dampers have been maintenance-free and reliable for years. We are flexible in damper design, so every car, including yours, delivers a driving experience with our KW twin-tube dampers that guarantee the optimum balance of driving dynamics, comfort, and safety. The focus is always on making the suspension set-up as firm as necessary and as comfortable as possible. Depending on the version, our KW twin-tube dampers offer either vehicle-specific fixed tuning (KW V1) or adjustable valve technology. You can adjust only the rebound damping (KW V2) or both compression and rebound damping separately (KW V3). We also use KW twin-tube dampers in our ride comfort-oriented applications, KW V2 Comfort and KW V3 Leveling.
Open to technology for maximum driving pleasure - the KW three-tube dampers
Our KW triple-tube dampers offer greater scope for a perfect driving experience. They come in varying levels of technology and are used in our innovative Solid Piston applications. For example, we can equip the KW three-tube dampers with semi-active, electronically adjustable proportional valves. We also use them in our individually tunable triple, quadruple, and quintuple Coilover suspensions from our Street Performance and Track Performance programs.

Our KW triple-tube dampers are a development of the well-known KW twin-tube dampers. We use the KW three-tube dampers in many high-performance applications because they offer greater control for optimal driving behavior. Depending on the application, our efficient three-tube dampers have an internal reservoir or reservoirs permanently attached to the damper or connected via a hose. Our KW triple-tube dampers are also technology-neutral. We equip the dampers with electronically adjustable valves (DDC) or use them for double (V3 Clubsport, V3 Racing), triple (V4, V4 Clubsport, V4 Racing), quadruple (V5, V5 Clubsport, V5 Racing), or quintuple (V6 Racing) tunable KW coilover suspensions.

The Solid Piston dampers are an innovative development of our damper technology. Unlike other suspension dampers, they operate on the principle of volume displacement, meaning the damper oil is displaced. They are available in twin-tube or triple-tube configurations. Depending on the design, we can achieve significantly higher damping forces or reduce system pressure with the same force. At the same time, the solid piston dampers provide an instantaneous response, even with the shortest damper strokes (spring travel). We use Solid Piston technology in various KW Racing applications, KW Clubsport suspensions, and semi-actively controlled KW DDC coilovers. Depending on the suspension system, the dampers use either two, four, or five manually adjustable valves or two electronically adjustable proportional valves.
How do different damper technologies differ in the suspension?
KW suspensions use different damper technologies depending on the intended use. The monotube technology provides consistent damping force and high thermal stability, delivering a sporty driving experience. The twin-tube dampers offer sporty, firm driving with sufficient comfort. Our three-tube dampers extend the system by providing additional oil reserves and finer control of adjustment options, such as electronically controlled suspensions. Our innovative displacement piston dampers enable maximum precision and extremely fast response.
